Student Advising Records

Records that document an undergraduate and/or graduate student's academic progress within a specific department and or college program. Most of the components are reference copies of records maintained in the files of the Registrar's Office and/or the Graduate School and are maintained for the convenience of the student academic advisors. Records may include applications, notices of admission, grade reports, degree program requirements, reports, correspondence, and other related records.

Retention Period

Retain for five years after graduation or date of last enrollment.

Disposition Instructions

Confidential destruction is required. Paper must be shredded, pulped, or incinerated; electronic records must be overwritten or the storage media physically destroyed. Deletion of information in computer files or on electronic storage media is not sufficient.
