Records that document vitas received from the public either solicited or unsolicited for employment. File may include correspondence, resumes, writing samples and other related records.
Place in Personnel Files if applicant is hired. Retain for two years, if not hired, then dispose of.
Confidential destruction is required. Paper must be shredded, pulped, or incinerated; electronic records must be overwritten or the storage media physically destroyed. Deletion of information in computer files or on electronic storage media is not sufficient.
